Summary of the contracting process

Plymouth City Council is currently undertaking a tender process for the "Intensive School Engagement (Cycling & Scooting) Service", which falls under the education and training services category. The procurement has been advertised with a budget of £283,000 and is being conducted through an open procedure. The deadline for submission of proposals is set for 7th January 2022, with the contract expected to commence on 20th February 2022 and continue until 19th September 2022. This initiative aims to engage with at least 60 schools in Plymouth and its surrounding areas, impacting over 12,000 pupils by promoting cycling and scooting as sustainable modes of transport.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses in the education, training, and transportation sectors, particularly those offering services related to cycling and physical activity. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and voluntary and community sector organisations (VCSEs) are encouraged to participate, as the initiative aims to foster local engagement and accessibility in educational contexts. By diversifying their service offerings, capable businesses can expand their reach within the community while contributing to the health and safety of schoolchildren in Plymouth.
