Summary of the contracting process

The Public Health England (PHE) has completed a procurement process for the supply of test tubes and screw caps required for COVID-19 testing. The tender, initiated under extreme urgency due to the ongoing pandemic, falls within the goods category and is classified as CPV code 33192500. Although the procurement's status is complete, the latest actions were conducted using a limited method without prior call for competition, in accordance with the directives of the Civil Contingencies Act. The contract was awarded on 5th June 2020, with a financial commitment of £181,000 and delivery addressed within the UK.

This procurement opportunity is tailored for suppliers in the medical and scientific equipment sectors, particularly those capable of providing essential goods swiftly under critical circumstances. Businesses specialising in laboratory supplies, medical equipment, or other health-related products may find avenues for growth through engagement with PHE for future needs, especially as public health demands continue to evolve. The previous contract was awarded to International Scientific Supplies Limited, illustrating the potential for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to succeed in this competitive landscape.
