Summary of the contracting process

The MOD (Ministry of Defence) is conducting a procurement process for the "Provision of Manned Model Ships Handling Training," with an estimated contract value of £222,146. This contracting process is classified under specialist training services and is intended for delivery in Portsmouth, UK. The procurement method used is a limited procedure, specifically negotiated without the publication of a contract notice, due to the lack of suitable tenders resulting from a previous open competition. The contract was officially awarded on 1st February 2021.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for training providers, particularly those specialising in maritime education and safety training. Businesses that focus on professional training services, especially in defence and maritime sectors, would be well-positioned to compete in future tenders of this nature. With continued emphasis on ensuring the safety of personnel within the Royal Navy, suppliers who can demonstrate high-quality training capabilities are likely to find ample opportunities for collaboration with the MOD.
