Summary of the contracting process

The United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority is embarking on a procurement process for the manufacture, assembly, testing, and transportation of certain components, specifically the PIE, PIE Hatch Lid, and Waste Transfer Hatch Lid. With a planned budget of £400,000, this initiative falls within the category of miscellaneous fabricated products and is situated at the Culham Science Centre in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. This process is currently in the planning stage, with a communication expected on 3rd May 2021, and responses to market queries due by 19th February 2021.

This procurement opportunity presents an avenue for growth for businesses involved in manufacturing and fabrication, particularly those with expertise in constructing nuclear-related equipment and structures. Companies specialising in metals, assembly, and engineering solutions, especially those experienced with 'build-to-print' projects, would be well-positioned to compete for this contract. The tender aims to engage the market for innovative solutions, supporting firms that can meet the specific standards required for construction at the European Spallation Source in Sweden.
