Summary of the contracting process

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has initiated the tender process for the renewal of the Oracle support and maintenance contracts, which are essential for maintaining key database systems used in their operations. The procurement method employed is a limited award procedure without prior publication of a call for competition, justified due to technical reasons that grant Oracle UK Limited exclusive capability to provide these services. The contract value is approximately £786,714 and will commence on 6 April 2021, lasting for a period of 12 months.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses in the IT services sector, particularly those specializing in software support and maintenance. Vendors with specific expertise in Oracle systems and a proven track record in managing similar contracts may find this a suitable competitive landscape. Given the exclusive nature of the current arrangement with Oracle UK Limited, businesses capable of providing backup or complementary services may also benefit from future opportunities as the market evolves.
