Summary of the contracting process

The University of Edinburgh is seeking a contractor for an application development project focused on creating a Track & Trace mobile application to mitigate health impacts from COVID-19 in Uganda. This tender falls under the services category, specifically related to application service providers, and is executed through a limited procurement method without prior publication of a call for competition. The procurement process is currently in the Award stage, with an active contract valued at £125,557, signed on 11 March 2021. The project location is Kampala, Uganda, and it aims to streamline the operations for haulage drivers by reducing border waiting times caused by mandatory COVID-19 testing.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in mobile application development and health IT solutions, particularly those familiar with working in low to middle-income settings. Companies that can demonstrate expertise in integrating health data systems and enhance supply chain efficiency would be well-positioned to compete in this contract. The involvement of Bodastage Solutions Limited, the awarded supplier, indicates a focus on partnerships with local entities that understand the operational challenges in Uganda, making this a valuable opportunity for SMEs looking to expand their portfolio in international development projects.
