Summary of the contracting process

The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames (RBK) is currently seeking bids for the "RBK CRE Removal Storage and Handyman Service Project." This tender falls under the services category, specifically related to supporting and auxiliary transport services, and is taking place in Kingston upon Thames, south-west London. The procurement process is in the tender stage, with submissions due by 20 April 2021. The total contract value is £270,000, and the successful provider will be expected to fulfil services until the contract end date of 30 April 2026.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in removals, storage, and handyman services, especially those equipped to handle the logistics of residential rehousing. The project is part of a broader regeneration initiative that aims to build over 2,000 new homes in the area, thus potential suppliers should be prepared to accommodate fluctuating demands from both the CRE regeneration programme and various housing schemes. Companies that can demonstrate quality and cost-effectiveness are particularly well-suited to compete, as the evaluation criteria focus 60% on quality and 40% on cost.

Notice Title

RBK CRE Removal Storage and Handyman Service Project

Notice Description

The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames (RBK) is located in south-west London. It had an estimated population of 173,313 in 2020 but this is steadily rising and there is increasing demand for low cost affordable housing. The Mayor of London has set ambitious home building targets for all London boroughs in the new London Plan. RBK now has the opportunity to build new council homes for the first time in a decade after securing funding from the GLA. The Council has formed a joint venture partnership with Countryside properties to regenerate the Cambridge Road Estate (CRE) with plans to provide over 2000 new homes, a safer neighbourhood, play areas and community facilities for all. Over the life of the programme all residents currently living on the estate will need to move home and we have developed a comprehensive rehousing policy to support tenants and homeowners through this process. We are now moving towards the delivery phase, and with the rehousing of some CRE residents in the first phase already underway, we are looking to secure a provider to take on a removals, storage and handyperson contract as soon as possible. Although the CRE regeneration programme will form the majority of demand for this service, removals and storage services will also be required for homeless households and other households with whom the Housing Service interacts under a variety of other schemes throughout the life of the contract.
