Summary of the contracting process

NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) is initiating a tender process for the "Collection of Plasma for Fractionation," valued at approximately £26 million. This project falls under the medical equipment industry category and is based in the UK. Currently in the planning stage, the tender aims to procure a plasmapheresis solution that includes machines, consumables, and maintenance to facilitate UK plasma collection for the manufacture of immunoglobulins. A market engagement event is set to take place on 22nd April 2021, allowing potential suppliers to review the draft specification and provide feedback. Interested parties should contact the NHSBT representative for attendance by email.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in medical equipment manufacturing, particularly those that provide plasmapheresis machinery and consumables. Companies with expertise in healthcare solutions, blood services, and related fields are encouraged to participate, given the anticipated requirement of up to 200,000 litres of plasma per annum. Collaboration with other UK and Ireland blood services may further expand the scope and potential benefits for suppliers in this sector.
