Summary of the contracting process

The London Borough of Hillingdon is currently in the active stage of a public procurement process for the provision of a Backup Contractor for its Reactive Repairs & Maintenance Service. This procurement falls under the works category, specifically focusing on building completion work, with an estimated budget of £800,000. The tender, which is set to conclude with submissions due by 17th May 2021, involves managing a diverse portfolio of over 10,000 housing properties and approximately 200 corporate buildings across the London Borough of Hillingdon. The chosen contractor will need to respond promptly to work orders, typically within 20 working days, through an open procurement method. The contract is anticipated to last for up to three years, with potential extensions based on satisfactory performance. Businesses involved in construction-related services, particularly those specialising in brick and masonry works, plumbing, external works, carpentry, plasterwork, painting, and decorating, will find significant opportunities here. Contractors looking to compete should prepare to demonstrate their capability to meet stringent timeframes, as certain works will involve sensitive deadlines dictated by legal and customer complaints. Participation in this tender could lead to a substantial annual workload, but it is essential for bidders to understand that the Borough does not guarantee a fixed volume of work, thus requiring a flexible approach to contract fulfilment and service delivery.
