Lot Information
Aneurysm Clips
Lot 1: An aneurysm clip is a metal clip which is placed over the neck of an Aneurysm to treat. Neurosurgery is a high risk and complex specialty with a high proportion of emergency and urgent work. It is a diverse specialty and includes acute and longer term care, of patients with disorders of the brain, spinal cord, nerves, skull and spine. It incorporates the management of patients with tumours, haemorrhages, hydrocephalus, trauma, spinal degenerative disease, congenital abnormalities, intractable pain, movement disorders, epilepsy and some mental disorders. There are close links with Neurology, Critical Care, Paediatric Neurology and Neuroradiology.
Renewal: There is an option to extend at the sole discretion of NHS Wales for two further twelve month periods.
Cerebral Spinal Fluid ManagementLot 2A: Cerebral Spinal Fluid Management - Cerebral Catheters and Accessories. Cerebral Catheters are used to facilitate drainage of Cerebral Spinal Fluid from the ventricles by means of a silicone catheter with or without an antibiotic coating, made of a barium-impregnrated radiopaque silicone material Lot 2B: Cerebral Spinal Fluid Management - Cerebral Reservoirs. Cerebral Reservoirs are used to facilitate aspiration of Cerebral Spinal Fluid, or for the delivery of drugs (e.g. chemotherapy into the Cerebral Spinal Fluid). Lot 2C: Cerebral Spinal Fluid Management - Cerebral Shunts and Valves. Cerebral Shunts and Valves are used to facilitate intra-corporeal drainage of Cerebral Spinal Fluid in patients with chronic high Intra Cranial Pressure or Hydrocerphalus and allow for a differential and regulared flow of Cerebral Spinal Fluid from the brain to another visceral organ. Cranial ClosureLot 3A: Cranial Closure - Cranial Fixation Lot 3B: Cranial Closure - Cranial Sealants/Patch. A Cranial patch is made of synthetic, biodegradable nanofibers meant to be affixed to the dura mater - the protective membrane underneath the skill that keeps the brain and spinal cord safe after cranial neurosurgery. A Cranial sealant is an adjunct to standard methods of dural repair, such as sutures, to provide watertight closure during both cranial and spinal procedures. Lot 3C: Cranial Closure - Cranial Clips and Pins. Cranial clips and pins are designed for being attached to the scalp flap for safe and adequate haemostasis during a craniotomy procedure. Neurosurgery is a high risk and complex specialty with a high proportion of emergency and urgent work. It is a diverse specialty and includes acute and longer term care, of patients with disorders of the brain, spinal cord, nerves, skull and spine.
