Summary of the contracting process

The Highland Council has initiated a tender process for the construction of the Invercoe Bridge Replacement, which falls under the engineering and construction works category. This project involves the implementation of a steel and concrete composite bridge spanning 60 metres, alongside temporary offline diversions and demolition of the existing structure. The procurement method employed for this project is a selective procedure, and the expected works are set to commence in November 2021. All interested bidders needed to submit their ESPD documentation in advance of the pre-qualification deadline established for this tender, which concluded on 25 June 2021.

This tender presents a significant opportunity for businesses in the construction sector, particularly those with proven capabilities in large-scale bridge projects and a strong financial background, given the minimum yearly turnover requirement of £8 million over the past three years. Businesses specialising in structural engineering, environmental management, and those with a commitment to community engagement through employment and skills initiatives will find this project particularly pertinent for engagement, as it emphasises the delivery of project benefits to the local community.
