Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process titled "Processing of MRF Dry Mixed" was initiated by Cardiff Council, focusing on refuse incineration services within the waste management sector. This open procedure was aimed at contributing to the Welsh Government's recycling targets, anticipating approximately 40 tonnes of commercial waste weekly for the first year of the contract. However, this tender has been cancelled, with the previous related details recorded on 6th July 2021.

Despite the cancellation of this tender, opportunities still exist in the waste management industry, particularly for businesses that can offer innovative solutions for waste reduction and resource recovery. Companies specialising in waste transfer services, refuse and waste-related services, and non-hazardous waste treatment may find valuable avenues to participate in future contracts. The fluctuating demand, especially during peak seasons, also presents a prospect for adaptable businesses to address varying waste management needs in local authorities.
