Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence, through its Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) department, has completed the procurement process for the "Anechoic Chamber Test Facility GNSS Simulator System," classified under goods in the research and testing industry. The procurement was initiated due to a need for a modernised GNSS simulation capability at MoD Boscombe Down, Salisbury, Wiltshire, with a total contract value of £1,230,000 signed on 14 December 2021, and set to run until 31 March 2024. The procurement method employed was a limited procedure, utilising a negotiated process without prior publication of a call for competition, as only one tender was received and deemed non-compliant before the successful negotiation with Spirent Communications PLC.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in GNSS technology, simulation systems, and related support services. Companies specialising in high-tech goods, particularly those with capabilities in global navigation and positioning systems or those able to provide support and maintenance for such technologies, would be well-suited to compete in future tenders. Engaging in this sector can enhance business growth, especially for firms looking to expand into defence and aerospace applications where innovation and reliability are crucial.
