Notice Title
Cystinosis Diagnosis and Management Advice Service
Notice Description
Cystinosis is a very rare inherited lysosomal storage disease presenting in infancy (95% of cases) with severe kidney disease but subsequently involving multiple organs (eyes, thyroid, liver, diabetes, muscle deterioration). Patients often present to paediatric nephrology services although multi organ disease requires multi-speciality input. Effective drug therapy and renal transplantation has improved the life expectancy of these patients. This project comprises a provider selection process to commission adult and paediatric cystinosis services.
Lot Information
One hub for adult and paediatric cystinosis services to cover the NHS England population in the North of England
NHS England is seeking to commission a service to deliver cystinosis diagnosis and management advice through the publication of this provider selection process. Services will be provided from 3 adult and paediatric hubs, either as a joint bid between two organisations (one covering adult services and one covering paediatric services) or as a single integrated service bid from the same organisation, covering both adult and paediatric services. Services will be selected to offer geographically equitable access to minimise patient travel times whilst also offering access to multidisciplinary resources. Services will support national networking of the highly specialised centres with the adult and paediatric centres working closely together to offer an integrated service and excellent transition of patients. The hubs will be required to work in a national network to support the development of national policies and protocols and to facilitate research. The hub allocation model will be based on a regional lot breakdown as follows: * Lot 1 - one hub for adult and paediatric cystinosis services to cover the NHS England population in the North of England * Lot 2 - one hub for adult and paediatric cystinosis services to cover the NHS England population in the Midlands and northern areas of East of England * Lot 3 - one hub for adult and paediatric cystinosis services to cover the NHS England population in the South of England and southern areas of East of England Providers wishing to be considered for the delivery of these services will need to respond to the provider selection documentation and submit responses prior to the deadline stated in this notice.
Options: The contract period is 3 years with an option to extend for a further 12 months.

One hub for paediatric cystinosis services to cover the NHS England population in the North of EnglandNHS Arden and Greater East Midlands Commissioning Support Unit (AGCSU), on behalf of NHS England (referred to as the Commissioner), is seeking to establish Cystinosis Diagnosis and Management Advice Services and are inviting interested providers to respond to this market engagement exercise. The proposed service model is described in the NHS England service specification for the provision of Cystinosis diagnosis and co-ordination of management (all ages). This sets out the detailed objectives and clinical criteria for the services. The prevalence of Cystinosis in Europe is 0.5 per 100,000. There are approximately 200-300 patients in the UK, this is based on prescription records and reports from the patients' society Cystinosis Foundation UK. NHS England is looking to gauge the potential market interest for providing these services and would like to hear from suitably qualified and experienced providers with the necessary capacity and capability (or a demonstrable ability to acquire the necessary capacity and capability) within the market including potential collaboration opportunities amongst providers. Following this, where there is a single provider expressing an interest in a Lot who would be able to meet the requirements, direct awards may be made. Where there are several providers within a lot, a further 'light-touch' one stage provider selection approach will be required. Partnerships/integrated working will be required between adults and paediatric services; in particular to support the transition pathway for patients. In line with the service specification, services will be provided from 3 adult and 3 paediatric hubs. These will be selected to offer geographically equitable access to minimise patient travel times whilst also offering access to multidisciplinary resources and to support national networking of the highly specialised centres with the adult and paediatric centres working closely together to offer an integrated service and excellent transition of patients. The hubs will be required to work in a national network to support the development of national policies and protocols and to facilitate research. The centre allocation model will be based on a regional lot breakdown as follows: * Lot 1 - one hub for adult cystinosis services to cover the NHS England population in the North of England * Lot 2 - one hub for adult cystinosis services to cover the NHS England population in the Midlands and northern areas of East of England * Lot 3 - one hub for adult cystinosis services to cover the NHS England population in South of England and southern areas of East of England * Lot 4 - one hub for paediatric cystinosis services to cover the NHS England population in the North of England * Lot 5 - one hub for paediatric cystinosis services to cover the NHS England population in the Midlands and northern areas of East of England * Lot 6 - one hub for paediatric cystinosis services to cover the NHS England population in the South of England and southern areas of East of England The market engagement includes a clear outline of the service requirements along with a questionnaire for bidders to respond to, including the key requirements to ascertain the capability of providers. The contract duration for this service will be four years, including any extension [three years plus a one-year extension]. The response deadline is 12:00 hrs midday on Tuesday 21st September 2021. To register your interest please follow this link https://uk.eu-supply.com/ctm/supplier/publictenders?B=UK and either login or register on EU Supply and search from ID number 45132. "title": "One hub for paediatric cystinosis services to cover the NHS England population in the South of England and southern areas of East of England",
"description": "NHS Arden and Greater East Midlands Commissioning Support Unit (AGCSU), on behalf of NHS England (referred to as the Commissioner), is seeking to establish Cystinosis Diagnosis and Management Advice Services and are inviting interested providers to respond to this market engagement exercise.
