Summary of the contracting process

Leidos Supply Ltd, based in Bristol, has completed a procurement process titled "The Supply and Support of Blood and Plasma Storage Units". This procurement falls within the medical equipment industry category and aims to establish a three-year single source framework for spare parts, capital equipment, servicing, training, and software publications related to the blood and plasma storage units used by the Ministry of Defence. The agreement, which is currently active, has been awarded through a limited procurement method without prior publication of a call for competition, due to the specific technical requirements that dictate the choice of supplier. The contract was signed on 4th January 2021 and has a total value of £820,000.

This tender represents significant opportunities for businesses, particularly those specialising in medical equipment and services. Companies that can supply spare parts or ancillary services for blood and plasma storage systems or those capable of advanced servicing, training, and operational support would be well-fitted to engage in associated opportunities. Given the single source nature of the framework, competitive activities may be limited, but firms that align with the technical specifications and are capable of meeting the stringent requirements of the Ministry of Defence could benefit from continued business within this niche sector.
