Summary of the contracting process

The Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is initiating a procurement process for the provision of Intermediate Care Beds, with a focus on enhancing the patient pathway within the Sheffield region. This procurement falls under the category of healthcare services and is currently at the planning and tender stage. Interested providers must submit their expressions of interest by 5:00 PM on 29th October 2021. The total contract value is estimated at £23,250,000, and the contract is expected to last for an initial term of three years, with an option to extend for an additional two years, subject to performance. The procurement method is selective, following a restricted procedure.

This tender offers significant opportunities for local healthcare providers, particularly those specialising in the delivery of bed-based intermediate care services. Businesses that can operate within the Sheffield locality and have the capacity to supply a variety of bed types—such as bariatric and EMI beds—are particularly encouraged to participate. The procurement aims to engage a diverse range of providers to foster competition and demonstrate value for money while ensuring that quality care standards are maintained. Interested parties should ensure they meet the necessary CQC registration requirements and submit any proposals through the indicated channels to facilitate their participation in this growing market.
