The Piccadilly Design Competition
Notice Description
Manchester City Council wishes to appoint a Landscape Architect / Urban Designer led design team to fulfil their vision and create a world class public space at Piccadilly. Piccadilly will provide an example of the very best in Manchester public realm to showcase and exemplify the City's growing international status. It is one of the most significant central Manchester locations and has an important history. Piccadilly Gardens (to be referred to as Piccadilly) is an open-space area situated in the heart of Manchester city centre. As an accessible gateway to the city, it provides both work and leisure opportunities for a large number of people. Piccadilly acts as a key entry point into the heart of Manchester city centre and creates a first and lasting impression on visitors and Mancunians alike. The Council wish to develop the site in a sustainable way that respects its heritage. It seeks a design team capable of realising this project in ways that combine imagination and creativity with economy and sustainability. Manchester City Council Capital Programmes Department are leading and administering a three-stage competition. This will result in the selection of a winning team and design, who will be appointed to develop their design and to deliver the project. The Council will use the Chest to conduct this procurement exercise at www.the-chest.org.uk . The competition documentation including Piccadilly Design information pack containing further information and instructions for each stage of the competition are now available to download from the portal.

"description": "The Council is using the e-business portal known as the Chest. Applicants will need to register their details at the following link www.the-chest.org.uk . Once registered, applicants will be emailed a log-in and password which will allow them to gain access to the documentation relating to this opportunity. Applicants will need to electronically submit their completed selection questionnaire documents, including online questionnaire, via the on-line portal by 11am on Monday 10th January 2021 as stated in the design competition documentation. Any clarification queries must also be submitted via the Chest website by the date referred to in the tender documentation. The contract will be for 9 months and is expected to commence on 1st June 2023 The Council reserves the right not to award the contract, as a result of this Contract Notice. All submissions must be in English, with any clarifications or discussions conducted in English. Tenders and supporting documents must be priced in pounds sterling and all payments under the proposed contract will be made in pounds sterling.",
