Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process focuses on the supply and delivery of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) related to Covid-19 for the Cumbria County Council. The title of this tender is "Supply and Delivery of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) related to Covid-19 2022 – 2024," and it falls under the industry category of goods, specifically classified as clothing and accessories. The procurement is currently in the Award stage, with a contract value of £4,500,000. Key dates include the signing of the contract on 16 March 2022, following an open tender procedure that concluded earlier in December 2021.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses, particularly those specialising in the manufacture or supply of PPE, such as disposable gloves, surgical masks, and hand sanitiser. SMEs and larger suppliers who can meet quality and safety standards, with the ability to deliver products as required, are well-suited to compete. The framework allows for a maximum of eight suppliers, creating potential avenues for collaboration within Cumbria, especially as the region undergoes local government reorganisation.
