Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence is preparing to procure In-Service Support for Aircraft Ground Starting and Servicing (AGSS) and Aircraft Converted Electrical Supplies (ACES) through a tender process. The procurement is classified under "Repair and maintenance services of warships" within the maritime defence industry. The anticipated timeline includes a supplier pre-qualification questionnaire (DPQQ) release in January 2022, with responses due in February 2022, followed by an invitation to negotiate (ITN) for selected bidders in April 2022, with a return date set for May 2022. The contract award is expected in December 2022, with an estimated value of £7,500,000. All activities are to be conducted in the United Kingdom, with the entire contract period lasting approximately five years.

This tender represents a significant opportunity for businesses specialised in defence services, electrical supplies, and maintenance services to expand their operations within the UK public sector. Potential bidders include companies that can demonstrate compliance with stringent cybersecurity requirements, particularly those with the capacity to manage very low cyber risk levels. Firms experienced in managing spares and repair contracts, including those with capabilities in military and civil defence services, would be well-positioned to compete effectively for this contract. Interested businesses should prepare to provide detailed cybersecurity assessments and risk management strategies to align with the contracting authority's stringent tender conditions.
