Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process involves Swansea University seeking a specialist catering partner to provide catering and hospitality services across its two campuses in Swansea. The contract, valued at approximately £45 million over ten years, is in the awarded stage, having been signed on 17 September 2021. This procurement follows a selective method, utilising a competitive dialogue as outlined within the Public Contracts Regulations 2015. Notably, the process is designed to enhance student experience through improved catering options, with an emphasis on high street and culinary trends.

This tender offers significant opportunities for businesses in the catering and hospitality sector, particularly those capable of providing innovative food services and event management. Companies specialising in large-scale catering operations, especially with experience in educational institutions, would be well-suited to compete. The contract's long duration and substantial value suggest potential for growth, particularly in expanding external catering services and enhancing the overall quality of offerings within the university environment.
