Summary of the contracting process

The procurement process initiated by Cardiff University involves the supply, installation, and commissioning of a new generator set at the Henry Wellcome Building, located at 4-5 Heath Park Way, Cardiff, CF14 4XW. This open tender, which is currently active, falls under the goods category, specifically focusing on generators as classified by CPV code 31120000. Key dates include a tender submission deadline of 14th February 2022, with the contract period expected to run from 8th April 2022 to 30th September 2023. The total value of the contract is set at £150,000, and all processes must adhere to UK Public Contracts Regulations 2015, guaranteeing a standstill period for bidders post-award decision.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses in the electrical and construction sectors, particularly those specialising in generator supply and installation, as well as waste disposal services for existing equipment. Suppliers with expertise in the installation and maintenance of power generation systems would find a competitive advantage. Additionally, companies capable of providing ancillary services such as transportation and refurbishment of existing generators may also benefit, making this an ideal opportunity for businesses looking to expand their portfolios within the public sector.

Lot Information

Lot 1

The aim of this procurement process is to establish a contract for the following: The Bidder shall provide a fixed price for the supply of a new 850 kVA standby (770kVA Prime) generator and associated equipment/services to replace the existing 600 kVA diesel generator and associated delivery system, electrical changeover systems and controls, flue, components, pumps, and controls. This additional price will not form part of the Award Criteria and will be for information only.
