Summary of the contracting process

The UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) - British Geological Survey is seeking suppliers for the "BGS Replacement Lighting Framework Agreement", aimed at replacing older lighting systems with energy-efficient LED alternatives at their head office in Keyworth, Nottinghamshire. The procurement process is currently in the award stage, with contracts valued at £400,000 each for selected suppliers. The framework will allow for mini-competitions for individual lighting projects, with a target completion date set for 31 March 2022. The procurement follows an open procedure and is classified under goods, specifically lighting systems (CPV Code: 31527260).

This tender creates significant opportunities for companies that specialise in lighting systems, energy efficiency, and related installation services. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are particularly well-suited to compete, given that all six bids received for this project were from SMEs. Participating suppliers could benefit from recurring contracts through mini-competitions, contributing to their growth while supporting the British Geological Survey's energy reduction strategy.

Notice Title

BGS Replacement Lighting Framework Agreement

Notice Description

UKRI wishes to establish a Framework Agreement to support the British Geological Survey (BGS) with replacement lighting projects at their head office (Keyworth, Nottinghamshire). As part of BGS's strategy to reduce energy consumption we are looking to replace older style light fittings with more efficient LED alternatives. There will be additional benefits of cost saving through reduced maintenance requirements realised from increased life expectancy of installed parts and expected reduced frequency of lighting repairs. The aim of the procurement is to put in place a framework of Suppliers, from which mini-competitions can be undertaken, to award Call-Off Contracts for individual lighting projects, as needed and afforded.
