Summary of the contracting process

The NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership, hosted by Velindre University NHS Trust, is planning to conduct a tender for the procurement of a GRIDION™ MK1 from Oxford Nanopore Technologies. This contract, valued at £107,125, falls under the medical equipment category and is set to take place in Cardiff, United Kingdom. Currently at the planning stage, this notice serves as a ten-day standstill period, which will conclude on 11th March at midnight. For further details, interested parties may need to register their interest through the Sell2Wales website.

This procurement presents a valuable opportunity for businesses specialising in medical equipment, particularly those that can demonstrate a unique capability or technological advantage in nanopore sequencing technologies. Given that the equipment is exclusive to Oxford Nanopore Technologies due to various patents, competition is likely to be limited, making this an attractive tender for suppliers within the healthcare sector who can provide complementary products or services. Companies focused on innovation in the medical technology field may find the conditions favourable for growth by engaging with this procurement process.
