The procurement is for the removal of the 9.5km terrestrial section of Winfrith's sea-discharge pipelines (SDP). The twin pipelines run approximately 1.0m below ground level through predominantly arable farmland. They are constructed from Schedule 40 API 5L carbon-steel and comprise two 6\"- 8\" diameter 'active' pipelines contained within two 12\"- 18\" diameter 'low-active' pipelines leading to a concrete shore valve-house structure at Arish Mell. The outer surface of the SDP has a bitumen-asbestos glass-fibre reinforced coating. In addition to the pipeline, the removal of a large concrete break-pressure tank, six concrete wash-out pits and six brick air-valve pits is also required. The procurement shall include the following: * Removal of the entire terrestrial section of the SDP including wash-out pits, air valve pits, the break-pressure tank, cathodic protection, and the shore valve-house. * Controlled segmentation of the SDP into 5.0m sections and 'end-capping' (or wrapping) of the cut ends prior to transportation. * Stockpiling of the SDP sections at the Mx Winfrith Site. * Radiological monitoring and disposal of all demolition rubble at suitably licensed facilities. * Reinstatement of the pipeline corridor.
