Summary of the contracting process

The Ministry of Defence is currently in the tender stage for the procurement of 'SWESS Light Night Sight' systems intended for use on the L7A2 General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG). This procurement, classified under the goods category and specifically focusing on telescopic sights, has an estimated value of £20 million and allows for the initial purchase of three night sights per economic operator, with options for additional purchases (up to 800 units) specified in the contract. The tender submission period closes on 2nd May 2022. This process will be conducted through a selective procurement method, utilising an e-Tendering system.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in military or optical equipment supply, particularly those able to meet the technical and economic criteria outlined in the tender specifications. Companies that specialise in manufacturing or providing support for night vision technology, as well as those capable of fulfilling large-scale procurement contracts, would be well-positioned to compete. Participation in this framework agreement could lead to ongoing business relationships with the Ministry of Defence, enhancing market presence and potential revenue streams.
