Summary of the contracting process

The Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in Kensington, United Kingdom, is planning a tender for the "V&A East Museum Tenant Fit Out," which falls under the construction industry category. This procurement process, valued between £8,000,000 and £10,000,000, will utilise the Restricted Procedure, consisting of a two-stage selection followed by an award stage. The anticipated start for the tender process is expected by the end of June 2022. The project involves a comprehensive "white box" fit-out, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing works, as well as flooring and furniture fixtures and equipment (FFE).

This tender presents significant opportunities for construction and design firms, particularly those specialising in museum or cultural institution fit-outs. Businesses experienced in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installations, as well as non-structural partitioning and finish works, would be particularly well-suited to compete. Collaborating with the successful tenderer will require a coordinated approach to logistics and phasing, given the concurrent works around the V&A East site as part of the overall Stratford Waterfront development.

Notice Title

V&A East Museum Tenant Fit Out

Notice Description

The scope is the "white box" fitout for the V&A East. It includes MEP, Partitions, Flooring and FFE.

Lot Information

Lot 1

This contract is for the tenant fitout of the new Victoria & Albert East Museum, which forms part of the wider East Bank development. The scope of works is to provide the "white Box" fitout, which will include the installation of flooring, ceilings, non-structural partitions, 1st, and 2nd Fix MEP fittings, along with the tenant FFE installation and other items. This procurement will be carried out using the "Restricted Procedure" as provided for in the Public Contracts Regulations. This is a two stage process with a Selection stage followed by an Award Stage. Tenders invited at the Award Stage will be issued only to those limited number of tenderers that are successful at the Selection Stage. The contract will be tendered via a 2-stage process and upon completion of a pre-construction services period, the aim is that the V&A and the successful tenderer will enter into a JCT 2016 Design and Build contract (with amendments). V&A East sits within the wider Stratford Waterfront project. Therefore, during the fitout works areas directly outside of the building will be under the contract of the shell and core contractor, Mace Limited. The fitout contractor will therefore need to develop a phasing and logistics strategy in line with the constraints of the wider Mace site. It is currently envisaged that during the fitout contract, the responsibility for the control of areas outside of the V&A East may change. For clarity, the galleries installation is not included as part of this contract. The estimated contract value is at present PS8,000,000 - PS10,000,000 (GBP) which is, for the avoidance of doubt, an estimate only. Additional information: This notice is published in advance of the procurement process for information only. Please do not respond to this notice. We anticipate that the first stage of the tender process will commence later this month, at which point another contract notice will be issued with details on how to participate.
