Summary of the contracting process

The UK Research & Innovation (UKRI) is initiating a procurement process for the "MRC Sustainability Works Framework," focused on building installation work within the United Kingdom, specifically targeting the Medical Research Council (MRC) Estate. Currently in the planning stage, this opportunity aims to establish a framework for both major and minor building works that will enhance the MRC's facilities towards achieving net zero status. Interested suppliers should note that supplier days are scheduled from 11th to 14th July 2022 across various locations including Cambridge, London, and Oxfordshire, with a registration deadline of 30th June 2022. The anticipated total value of this framework is £50 million, and the contract duration is planned for three years with a potential one-year extension.

This procurement presents significant growth opportunities for construction and engineering firms that specialise in environmental improvement works, building installations, and compliance with stringent statutory and regulatory requirements. Businesses well-suited to compete will include those experienced in sustainable construction practices, as well as firms that can deliver specialized and complex projects in the research and educational sectors. By participating in the supplier days, organisations can gain valuable insights and establish connections that may enhance their proposals for the upcoming tender process.

Lot Information

MRC Sustainability Building Works

UKRI (UK Research and Innovation) is planning to launch a procurement for a framework of major and minor building works for the Medical Research Council. The works are mainly, but not exclusively targeting the transformation of the MRC (Medical Research Council) Estate to a net zero position, including complex facilities that must be compliant to specific statutory and regulatory requirements. It is critical that the research facilities have a very high standard to attract and enable to progress world class science. The current estates portfolio consists of a mixture of new and older facilities in various regions (Oxfordshire - MRC Mary Lyon Centre, Cambridgeshire - MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, London - London Institute of Medical Sciences) containing a wide range of functionality. We are seeking to establish a framework, which will consist of one contract for minor works in each of these regions and two contracts for major works that will service all three of these regions but represent different formats - one contract being a Design & Build main contractor approach, the other Management Construction model. It is the intention to appoint the framework contracts for a period of 3 years with the option of a 1-year extension (total of 4 years). The contracts will be based on the NEC4 contract suite with the most suitable contract being selected for the respective works. MRC would like to invite potential bidders to several supplier days. There will be the opportunity to learn more about the diversity and the potential of this requirement and to ask any questions you may have. Useful feedback from the days and Q&A sessions may be used to inform the final tender documentation, ensuring all valid options are considered. These will be taking place at our facilities in 11th July 2022 - MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Francis Crick Avenue, Cambridge Biomedical Campus, Cambridge, CB2 0QH 12th July 2022 - 58 Victoria Embankment, London 13th July 2022 - MRC Mary Lyon Centre, Harwell Campus, Oxfordshire, OX11 0RD 14th July 2022 - Virtual Supplier Event online access only The events are expected to last about 2.5 hours comprising an introduction to the respective facility (presentation), presentation of the requirements and how we anticipate operating this framework followed by question-and-answer session. Additional information: Suppliers must register to attend the supplier days. Attendance is restricted to 2 people per supplier. Please register interest and confirm attendance by 30 June 22 at: https://ukri.delta-esourcing.com/respond/KP9X3W4E9D If you experience any technical difficulties accessing the above url, contact the Delta eSourcing Helpdesk on 0800 923 9236 or helpdesk@delta-esourcing.com
