Notice Title

C893 - Leakage Detection Services

Notice Description

NI Water has had an active leakage control policy for many years. It has in place a Leakage Business Plan to take forward leakage activities. The level of leakage has been reduced from 291 Ml/d at March 2002 to 163 Ml/d at March 2017. As per the Utility Regulator's PC15 determination for the period from April 2015 to March 2021 it is proposed to reduce the level of leakage by 12 Ml/d. The Sustainable Economic Level of Leakage (SELL) was reviewed in 2013 and the updated figure of 159 Ml/d is to be achieved by March 2019. An integral part of the PC15 plan is to go below the SELL by 6 Ml/d and reduce leakage to 153 Ml/d by March 2021. It is recognised that external assistance in detection activities will be required for the next 6 years to meet targets in relation to both leakage reduction and maintenance. Through this Contract Northern Ireland Water intends to supplement existing in-house resources for the detection of the unreported leaks in the water distribution network.
