    "description": "As at the date of this Periodic Indicative Notice, the UK Parliament is considering the passage of an Energy Bill (House of Lords Bill HL39, Session 2022-23) which, amongst other things, contemplates the establishment of an 'Independent System Operator and Planner' ('ISOP') (HL39, Part 4). The National Grid group anticipates that, if the Energy Bill is enacted by Parliament, it may be required by law or regulation in due course to divest the entity known as National Grid Electricity System Operator Limited in connection with the establishment of the ISOP. Such a divestment may well be required during the term of service for one or more of the Lots set out above. Accordingly, National Grid advises prospective tenderers that, depending upon whether & when the Energy Bill is enacted by Parliament, and in such a case when & how the ISOP is to be established: o Part or all of the UK components of the services comprising Lots 1, 3 & 5 (or any combination of them) may be contracted, not only by National Grid UK Limited, but also by National Grid Electricity System Operator Limited; or o The eventual contracts awarded for Lots 1, 3 & 5 (or any combination of them) may include an option or options, exercisable by National Grid in order to give effect to its legal or regulatory requirements, to novate part or all of those contracts to National Grid Electricity System Operator Limited so that there is continuity of service to that entity, following any divestment from the National Grid group to assume part or all of the functions of the ISOP. National Grid does not anticipate that the divestment described above would alter the overall nature of the contracts awarded. National Grid will keep all qualified tenderers abreast of all relevant developments, including the details of the National Grid group entities that will be engaged in relevant contracting activity.
