Notice Title

Replacement of Stanhope Footbridge (Parkland Walk)

Notice Description

Construction of a new steel warren truss footbridge with associated reinforced concrete ramp, stepped access, and landscaping, including demolition of the existing bridge.

Lot Information

Lot 1

The Parkland Walk is a nature reserve in North London following the former railway line connecting Finsbury Park to Alexandra Palace. The existing footbridge at Stanhope Road carries the Parkland Walk over the public highway and is formed of a steel frame deck on masonry abutments. The structure is in poor condition and requires complete demolition and replacement. The replacement footbridge structure has been designed to RIBA Stage 4 and takes the form of a 16m span steel warren truss supported on bored piled reinforced concrete abutments. The embankments are partially constructed in reinforced earth and new accesses to the Parkland Walkway are to be provided by reinforced concrete ramps and stairs. The site will require landscaping upon completion to blend into the nature reserve setting. The worksite is formed by a restricted footprint immediately surrounding the structure and sits within an environmentally sensitive area, which will require limitations in access and methods of construction in order to mitigate ecologogical damage. A separate compound area will be provided a distance of 60m north from the structure. No diversions of Statutory Undertaker's plant are required, utilities in Stanhope road will only require a watching brief from statutory undertaker's engineers. Planning approval has been granted for the scheme with conditions. The scheme contractor will be required to discharge a number of the planning Conditions prior to commencement and during the Works. A copy of the Planning Decision letter is included for information on HCPS. A General Arrangement Drawing and visualisations of the proposed bridge are also available via HCPS. The London Borough of Haringey are seeking to procure a suitably competent contractor to deliver the works, which will be awarded using the ICC Measurement version Conditions of Contract. Additional information: Variants from tenders will not be accepted unless accompanied by a compliant bid with any variant being as an additional and separate proposal (to be reviewed at the sole discretion of LBH) To express interest and attend the Market Engagement Presentation on the 8th of December 2022, please follow this link http://redirect.transaxions.com/events/lHNwp and register your details by 17:00 on the 5th of December 2022.
