Age-related Macular Degeneration scans
Notice Description
The contract is to provide Age-related Macular Degeneration scans utilising available capacity at Danes Camp GP Surgery, Northampton, Northamptonshire. The patients and activity remain under Ophthalmology at NGH. The Danes Camp facility which is approximately 2 miles from NGH is easy to get to and meets the needs of the NGH patient cohort. Danes Camp clinic being a local GP clinic allows direct access to NGH clinics for follow up and treatment procedures. It is not possible to perform the injection outside of the hospital setting as this is deemed to be unsafe practice, therefore the patient would need to return to NGH for their injection appointment.

Procurement Information
The Danes camp service delivery is unique for the following reasons 1.The local relationship provides continuity of care therefore decisions are made then and there and no need for another follow up prior to treatment. 2.All the procedures come back to NGH for follow up. 3.The trust can view the NGH OCT scans from Danes Camp hence much easier to make decisions. 4.The clinicians can access Medi viewer and ICE results therefore no need for patients to have too many follow up appointments.
