Notice Title

Fatigue Management Programme

Notice Description

This PIN is issued by TfL and gives the opportunity to deliver a safety initiative across the organisation. We are looking to deliver a new initiative which will assist and aid our shift work colleagues in managing and dealing with fatigue. As part of our pan-TfL fatigue management programme, we are looking to educate our night shift work force on the effects that shift work can have on individual and social life and what can be done to mitigate against fatigue. TfL would like those parties that may be interested in such an exercise to identify themselves and express their interest to enable further dialogue with the TfL Project Team. Please note that to do so, organisations will need to register an Expression of Interest (EoI) at the following email address: Fatigue@tfl.gov.uk

Lot Information

Lot 1

TfL's strategy for Safety, Health and Environment The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has an ambitious programme to deliver an affordable, accessible and safe transport network for London. To support this, TfL created a Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) directorate in April 2020. This directorate has a key role to play in supporting the business to deliver on its Vision Zero target of nobody being killed or seriously injured on the transport network by 2041. Fatigue is a known risk across transport operations which can result in slower reaction times, reduced ability to process information and a greater chance of memory lapses. Within SHE, fatigue is one of our pan-TfL risks, which means it requires a holistic view and management as part of a risk-based approach to incident prevention. Fatigue can also have a significant effect on individual health and wellbeing, as part of our Fatigue Management Programme, not only management is important but also increasing understanding and awareness of the issue can help tackle the issue and enable development of 'best practice' across the organisation to help reduce the incidence of fatigue. We are seeking the support of an external organisation to directly engage with our night shift work colleagues, who are most likely to be impacted by fatigue, to raise awareness of fatigue and develop an understanding of what individuals can do to help themselves with managing fatigue. We are looking for a provider to undertake physical, targeted action to help to improve fatigue and define measures of success to ensure the benefit is being realised. Additional information: This Prior Information Notice (PIN) is issued solely for the purpose of conducting a market engagement exercise and does not constitute any commitment by TfL to undertake any public procurement exercise in the future. TfL is not liable for any costs, fees or expenses incurred by any party participating in this market engagement exercise.
