The council replaced its fleet of heavy plant vehicles on a contract hire basis with routine maintenance included. Due to a change in the waste strategy being delivered in 23/24 in which the way the council processes incoming materials, the fleet and waste facilities must be re-configured to reflect the new strategy and law. The extension is to allow for continuation of current services and to allow time to plan for a future competitive process once the re-configuration is complete.
