Notice Title

Carbon Offsetting Market Engagement (*not a tender opportunity*)

Notice Description

Essex County Council (ECC) is working with a number of landowners to support them to transition to sustainable land use and food production and is looking at ways to make sustainable land use a financially viable option. To do this, we are helping them develop nature-based projects that can generate ecosystem services (carbon, biodiversity, water) they can then sell to interested organisations. This will help the county of Essex achieve the target of reaching carbon net zero, provide diversified income to local farmers and support food production by improving soils, while providing multiple other social benefits. We have identified potential woodland carbon projects as well as soil carbon projects that can sequester tens of thousands of tonnes of CO2e and wish to explore the appetite of private and public sector organisations in purchasing high integrity, local carbon offsets. We would be interested to hear from organisations interested in both woodland carbon units and soil carbon units Meetings will be booked with selected shortlisted organisations to either discuss further your service offering or potential upcoming opportunities for your organisation. *Please note this is a soft market engagement activity and not a tender opportunity*
