HIAL owns and operates several DME across the HIAL estate, nominally providing service out to twenty-five nautical miles at 10,000 feet. Many have been in operation for some time and as such, have or are about to reach the end of their design life. This replacement programme aims to update the DME infrastructure at the Benbecula, Campbeltown, Dundee, Inverness, Islay, Kirkwall, Stornoway and Sumburgh airports.
