The University is looking to award a single supplier to provide ad-hoc security cover including cover for University's halls of residence. Supplier will be required to supply additional resources in case of emergency incidents. "rationale": "Need for additional works, services or supplies by the original contractor/concessionaire: The contract is being modified to include provision of Security at the DMU London campus. The provision did not meet the same standards as the DMU Leicester provision which were commissioned following a robust and compliant Open procurement process. There was only one supplier at that time that successfully met all of the criteria. There was insufficient time to undertake an equally robust process for the newly recognised requirement and the duplication of costs would have arisen from an additional tender process in addition to further processing and training costs. Cost of contract management of a poorly performing supplier have also been avoided. Information sharing with another party also potentially increases risk and cost."
