The Department terminated the contract with the other supplier in accordance with the Northern Ireland protocol for managing supplier poor performance. This action is very uncommon and was not foreseen by the contracting authority. It was necessary for the Department to modify this contract to ensure the availability of safety-critical road signage until a replacement contract is procured. The Department has commenced the development of a procurement competition to provide replacement contracts, which will be awarded by October 2024."
