Summary of the contracting process

Powys County Council has concluded its procurement process for providing Flying Start Childcare in Powys through a framework agreement. The framework focuses on areas undergoing Phase 2b expansion in 2024, specifically in Llanbadarn Fawr, Machynlleth, and Llanelwedd. The main procurement stage of this process includes an open procedure and has recently achieved a significant milestone with the award phase being completed. The procurement involves services in the primary education category, with the total value of the contracts awarded amounting to £190,000 GBP for each lot. Key contracts were signed on 3rd July 2024, and the details reflect the Council's commitment to supporting early childhood education and development within the UKL24 region.

This tender offers significant opportunities for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) specialising in childcare and education services to grow their business within the region. The framework's re-opening for future providers could create additional market entry points. Businesses capable of delivering high-quality child daycare and pre-school education services, particularly in non-maintained school and private building settings, would be well-suited to engage in these tenders. By participating, businesses can contribute to the social and cognitive development of children while fostering community well-being through early childhood education initiatives.
