Summary of the contracting process

NHS Supply Chain has initiated a procurement process for the supply of Skin Cleansing Disinfection and Hygiene products under the title "Skin Cleansing Disinfection and Hygiene 2025." This procurement falls under the industry category of medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, and personal care products. The estimated total value of the framework agreement over a 2+2 year term is £237,000,000, with an anticipated initial expenditure of £59,250,000 in the first year. The procurement is currently at the tender stage, with the tender period ending on 11 February 2025. The agreement will span across the UK, allowing procurement from any NHS Trust, other NHS entities, government bodies, and private sector healthcare entities. Key dates include the award period starting on 12 February 2025. The procurement method being utilised is an open procedure.

This tender presents numerous opportunities for businesses involved in the manufacturing and distribution of medical and personal care products to grow their market presence within the NHS and wider UK healthcare sector. Companies with expertise in producing skin cleansing and disinfection products, including patient wipes, antimicrobial body wash products, and pre-operative skin disinfectants, are particularly well-suited to compete. Additionally, businesses that can provide comprehensive supply chain services, maintain high quality standards such as ISO 9001:2015, and comply with UK medical device regulations will find this tender beneficial for capturing a significant portion of the framework’s substantial value. Potential suppliers must adhere to stringent insurance requirements and commit to social value criteria, positioning this as a lucrative opportunity for businesses capable of meeting these standards.
