Summary of the contracting process

This public procurement process, led by the South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, focuses on the reconfiguration of an existing medical distribution facility at the Paddock Wood Medical Distribution Centre in Kent. The tender involves construction and improvement works across two floors, encompassing new heating, cooling, and ventilation systems, security and IT upgrades, structural modifications, and aesthetic enhancements. The procurement method used is an open procedure, and the process is currently in the award stage, with the contract signed on 15th August 2024. The total contract value amounts to £502,213.42, and the project is classified under the 'construction work' industry category.

This tender presents a substantial opportunity for businesses, particularly those in construction, building installation, and facility management sectors. The detailed scope of work provides ample room for specialised contractors to showcase their technical expertise and efficient project management. As the facility must remain operational during the construction phase, companies experienced in delivering complex projects with minimal disruptions would be well-suited to compete. Additionally, the requirement for providers to manage electronic invoicing via the Tradeshift portal aligns with the NHS's paperless agenda, favouring firms with robust digital capabilities.
