Summary of the contracting process

The London Borough of Haringey is spearheading an ambitious procurement initiative with the "London Construction Programme Major Works Education Framework MW24-E." This open procedure contract is classified under the construction works category and is aimed at education buildings within London and the Home Counties. The framework, valued at £3 billion, kicked off in November 2024 and is anticipated to run for a period of five years. It succeeds the previous MW19 framework and encompasses a diverse range of works from new builds to retrofits and refurbishments, procured in eight lots with varying project sizes. The procurement process emphasizes sustainable construction practices and aims to provide a fast, efficient, and value-for-money route to market, supporting net-zero commitments and fostering innovation and inclusivity in the sector.

This framework is a considerable opportunity for businesses involved in construction, particularly those focused on educational facilities. With its allocation of lots reserved for various enterprise sizes, from micro to large, the initiative encourages a broad spectrum of companies to compete, thus promoting SME participation alongside large corporations. Companies with expertise in sustainable and modern construction methods, including modular buildings and low-carbon developments, will be particularly well-suited to benefit from the aims to align with net-zero commitments and enhance environmental sustainability standards. Additionally, the securement of long-term contracts will provide firms with the stability necessary to recruit, train, and potentially expand their workforce, promoting economic growth within the sector.
