Summary of the contracting process

In a planned procurement process, NMRN Operations has released a Prior Information Notice (PIN) for the conservation and fabrication of rigging hardware for HMS Victory. This falls under the metalworking industry category, specifically targeting the conservation of masts, yards (spars), and assorted metalwork items. The procurement process is currently in the planning stage, with an industry day scheduled for November 2024 at the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, located in the UKJ31 region. The tender opportunity is likely to be advertised as a Competitive Flexible Procedure under the new PA23 regulations in February 2025, with the expected contract award set for mid to late June 2024.

This tender provides significant opportunities for businesses specialising in metalworking and conservation. Companies with expertise in fabricating and conserving historical maritime artefacts would find this project particularly suitable. Participating businesses can showcase their skills in maintaining and enhancing historical structures, which can lead to further specialised conservation contracts. This project will also enable firms to engage closely with NMRN Operations and potentially establish long-term relationships with a reputable public body focused on recreation, culture, and history.
