Notice Title
Southwark Council - Framework for nursery, primary and secondary school food service Case Reference 002747
Notice Description
Southwark Council has undertaken a procurement exercise to implement a catering services framework for nursery, primary and secondary schools within the London Borough of Southwark. The aims of the framework include: *Continued improvement of nutritional quality and consistency of school meals across Southwark *Tackling disadvantage and reducing inequalities *Enhancing social value through job creation for local people, payment of London Living Wage (LLW) and supporting the local economy *Realising the opportunities for meeting the Council's social value, food security, environmental sustainability and climate emergency agenda. Within Southwark, there are currently 4 nursery schools, 74 primary schools (including 3 special schools) and 25 secondary schools (including 5 special schools). The value of the school meals market in Southwark is estimated at around PS8.3m (primary) and PS5.3m (secondary) annually. Currently, most primary school outsourced contracts are for a single school, rather than a group, each with different contract terms. Many secondary school contracts are either in house or as part of an academy grouped contract. Most contracts are currently two to three years in duration.
