Summary of the contracting process

St Francis Catholic Multi Academy Trust located in Rotherham, United Kingdom, has recently awarded a contract for catering services. The process, marked by the procurement method 'restricted procedure', signifies that the opportunity was limited to suppliers meeting specific criteria. The award phase was completed with the contract being signed on 23rd July 2025. Intended to bolster catering provisions across various Trust schools, it covers essential mealtime services including breakfast and lunch. The tender, classified under 'School catering services' (CPV code 55524000), has a substantial value of £6,687,328.28 and was awarded to Cater Link Limited. Catering services had previously been open for tenders with a deadline on 24th February 2025, having used a selective procurement approach to ensure quality, involving multiple stages including a standstill period for review.

This contract presents significant opportunities for businesses specialising in school catering services, particularly those capable of delivering comprehensive solutions across multiple sites. Organisations with expertise in both outsourced and in-house catering services can expand their business through long-term engagement, as the contract includes an initial three-year term with options for two additional one-year extensions. Suppliers are expected to bring innovative and creative ideas to sustain and improve service quality. The opportunity was competitive, with four bids submitted, including from SMEs, demonstrating the potential for businesses of varying sizes to compete, particularly those with the ability to offer enhanced and modernised service solutions within the educational sector.
