Summary of the contracting process

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS), located in Cambuslang, UK, has completed the procurement process for the replacement of ISDN and PSTN services, which are crucial for 999 telephony, corporate telephony, and operational mobilisation. This project falls under the services category within the dedicated-business telephone network industry. The procurement was executed through a limited method, specifically negotiated without the publication of a contract notice due to the technical necessity, with BT being the sole provider capable of delivering these services. The contract, valued at £606,875, was awarded and signed on 30 January 2025.

This tender offers significant opportunities for businesses, particularly those specialising in modern digital telecommunications and fibre infrastructure services. Companies that can provide innovative digital solutions and have a strong track record in handling critical telecom services would find this contract beneficial for business expansion. The move towards digital alternatives for formerly analogue services points to a growing market, making it an ideal environment for businesses striving to establish themselves in the public safety and telecommunications sectors.
