At present the East Grinstead (QVH) Eye bank orders human eye tissue from accredited suppliers.

The Eye Bank assures all eye tissue products are procured to satisfy the expectations of both
our service users and patients whilst in full compliance to applicable regulations and
standards as prescribed by the Human Tissue Authority. Additional information: the PS187500 figure covers a Five-year contract from the commencement date.

There is corneal tissue shortage both nationally and internationally. Despite the UK supplying us with a certain amount of <br/>tissues, that number is supplemented by supply from an external supplier. This<br/> supplier (Lions World Vision Institute) is also currently on our licence for import and has already met all Human Tissue Association stipulations.
