Summary of the contracting process

The Home Office, located in London, is overseeing a public procurement process titled "Project 18763 One Year Maintenance Solution for Border Force MST RHIBs." This project falls under the "Repair, maintenance and associated services related to marine and other equipment" industry category and involves maintenance work for Border Force Rigid Hull Inflatable Boats (RHIBs). The contract has gone through various stages, including planning, tendering, and awards, with pertinent dates ranging from contract notices in early 2025 to recent amendments in mid-2026. The procurement process employed an open competition method, detailed under the UK legislation reference 2023/54, and is primarily focused on services within the marine repair sector.

This tender presents an excellent opportunity for businesses specializing in marine equipment maintenance, particularly those experienced with vessel repair services. With a contract value exceeding typical threshold limits, there is potential for growth for businesses that can offer expertise in defect repairs, annual maintenance tasks, and modifications. SMEs like Balaena Ltd have successfully participated in this procurement, indicating that the process is inclusive towards smaller enterprises. Companies with capabilities in servicing government contracts and familiar with electronic procurement platforms like Jaggaer could leverage this tender to enhance their portfolio and strengthen their market presence in the public sector.
