Summary of the contracting process

Argyll and Bute Council has announced a planned procurement process for Craignure Pier & Ferry Terminal Works, classified under the industry category of pier construction work. The project is located in Craignure, Argyll (UKM63). This procurement, currently in the planning stage, is set to commence tendering in Q3/Q4 of 2025, with the future notice expected to be published by 1st December 2025. The works aim to replace existing life-expired terminal infrastructure, enhance berth capacity, and improve resilience for year-round ferry operations, including in challenging weather conditions.

This tender presents significant opportunities for businesses involved in pier construction, ferry terminal building construction, and related infrastructure works. Companies with expertise in maritime construction and facility upgrades, particularly those that can ensure minimal disruption to ongoing ferry services, will find this project suitable for their capabilities. The development also requires provisions for improved vehicle marshalling, accessibility features, and modern terminal facilities, opening avenues for businesses specializing in these aspects. This is an excellent chance for businesses to contribute to a critical infrastructure project that promises to have a lasting impact on ferry operations and the local economy.
