Summary of the contracting process

The East Of England NHS Collaborative Hub is in the planning stage for a procurement process titled "Ambulance Driver Training," focused on specialist training services within the UK. Scheduled to begin in May 2026 and extend until April 2028, this initiative is designed to enhance the skills of ambulance drivers across fourteen Ambulance Trusts. The procurement falls under the "services" category and adheres to the light-touch regime above the threshold, aiming to create a framework agreement. A crucial market engagement questionnaire deadline is set for 4th April 2025, and the communication for future notices is slated for July 1, 2025. The total contract value is anticipated to be £2,400,000, which includes additional emergency response elements, responding to the operational demand for C1 licensed drivers in the sector.

There are substantial growth opportunities for businesses involved in specialist training, particularly those focused on providing C1 driving and emergency response training. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are encouraged to participate, offering potential advantages from a tailored framework agreement allowing direct awards or further competition. Firms adept in education, training services, and those equipped to meet the public sector's unique requirements could find this procurement particularly beneficial in expanding their portfolios and establishing themselves within the public authority's ambit. The initiative represents a chance to align with a significant public health service provider, potentially leading to extended collaboration and enhanced business visibility in the public procurement landscape.
