LDC and EBC Grounds Maintenance Services
Notice Description
Lewes District Council and Eastbourne Borough Council's current Grounds Maintenance Services Contract expires on 31st March 2026. This contract presents an opportunity for experienced contractors to deliver high-quality grounds maintenance services in our beautiful parks and much-loved green spaces. We are seeking committed partners who can help maintain and enhance our outdoor spaces to the highest standards. The services provided by the Bidder will mainly be but not limited to the following: * Annual Bedding Maintenance to include wildflower planting where appropriate * Fine turf maintenance operations * Cleaning of changing rooms and sports pitch maintenance * Grass cutting * Path sweeping * Shrub bed maintenance - including roses and herbaceous borders * Maintenance of nature and environmental sites. * Hedge cutting * Cemetery operations Bidders are expected to be able to deliver everything detailed within the Specification included within the Tender Documents.

"rationale": "Three sites - Grange Gardens, Lewes Cemetery and Seaford Cemetery were excluded from the original public procurement for Lewes District Council's new grounds maintenance contract, starting 1 April 2026, to pursue the in-house option for these sites, as formally decided by the Council in March 2025. Following the outcome of the procurement, Glendale Countryside Limited was appointed to deliver LDC's grounds maintenance services from 1 April 2026. The above three sites were not included in the original procurement scope, as the Council wished to have direct control over the provision of services. However subsequent to the issue of the procurement tender invitations and the receipt of bids; due to unforeseen budgetary constraints at the Council, the project team was asked to prepare alternative delivery options in respect of the Lewes reserved services. Four separate options were presented and considered before the Council decided in light of the changed circumstances to seek a variation to the new contract. The option of a new contract was considered however, this was discarded on the basis that there would be significant operational and administrative compatibility issues as well as substantial increased cost implications, in managing two contracts within the council. The contract variation option was selected in view of the similarity of the services being provided and the cost benefits arising from a unified service.",
